DOROTHY DUTSON DEE Peacefully on May 12, 2006, Dorothy Dee passed away at the Lions Personal Care Centre in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her parents, James and Clara Dee, her brothers, Harry and Richard, and her niece, Claudia Hack. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by nephew Alan Dee; sister-in-law Marie Dee; great-nephew Damian; great-nieces Trina, Kristin and Lara; and their father Hilton Hack; as well as cousins and good friends of many years. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1902, emigrating with her parents from England to Manitoba when she was a little girl. A resident of St. James since 1916, Dorothy was employed for more than forty years by the T. Eaton Company, and was a long-time member of St. James the Assiniboine Anglican Church. In her long and active life, Dorothy found pleasure in the arts, visiting with her extended family, and travelling in Canada, the United States and Europe, usually with her good friend, Kathleen Fitzgerald. While Dorothy keenly felt the loss of independence that the infirmities of her last few years imposed upon her, we will remember her for a life of hard work, good sense, good humour, and great generosity and kindness to family and friends alike. A funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, May 18. The Ven. Fletcher Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. The family would like to thank personal aides Vi Hayden and Judy Moree of Drake Medox Health Services, the nurses and care staff of Lions Personal Care Centre, and Ruth Evans, Betty Morris, and David and Robert Skinner for their personal assistance in Dorothy's final years. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the St. James the Assiniboine Anglican Church Memorial Fund, 195 Collegiate St., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 1T9, or to the charity of their choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • When I think of my great Aunt I remember some simple yet to me important symbols. I recall having tea, holding forthright and gracious conversations. I remember her love of ideas, reading and us. Her generosity evidenced in flying out to visit us whenever she could, faithfully remembering birthdays and other celebrations. Browsing through Aunt Dorothy's pictures of my mother further piqued my interest in family history. I especially loved her Easter cards. I think remembering her Risen Lord was important. Now she gets to have tea with Him in person. I thank God for her influence in my life. - Posted by: Katrina Barnes (Family) on: May 27, 2006
