Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN REWNIAK She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family, her children arise and call her blessed. Proverbs It is with aching and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Rewniak, on May 16, 2006. Helen leaves to mourn her husband of 57 years, Metro; daughter Ruth (Rick); son Rick (Gail); and grandchildren, Shaylene, Scott (Tina), Kyle and Christopher; great granddaughters, Jesika Mae and Emily; sisters Mary and Rose; brother John (Mary); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was born on July 27, 1927 at Krasney, SK. Mom spent her youth on the farm with her brothers and sisters, and then moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married Metro, on August 14, 1948. From then on, she spent her time raising her children Ruthie and Ricky. Mom was a founding member of St. John the Apostle Ukrainian Church in St. Vital, past president of the Catholic Women's League, and worked for many years at St. Amant Centre. Mom received a great deal of pleasure from their cabin at Lester Beach. In eulogizing our mother, our memories of her many talents and skills are superseded by her endless patience and unselfish dedication to her family. She worried and fretted over her children and grandchildren, and spoiled us all with unconditional love. Mom will be remembered for her loyalty to and concern for family members and lifelong friends. She was a warm and caring person who went out of her way to make a stranger feel special and welcome. Mom tied her family with ribbons of love. She was a person everyone loved, a woman who gave generously of her time and enough energy to maintain the continuity of Ukrainian traditions, both within her family and her community. Although she suffered from Alzheimer's, she was still blessed with a gentle spirit, warm smile, and an affectionate nature. For her devotion and thoughtfulness we will always be grateful. Our family would like to express our appreciation to the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, Dr. Connelly, and the Holy Family Nursing Home, especially the staff of Sacred Heart Ward who daily gave such love and devotion to our wife and mother, and tremendous moral support to our family these last six years. You have made the transition easier and enriched our lives. Special thanks to Yolanda for being mom's real life angel . Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. on Friday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be her granddaughter Shaylene, grandsons Scott, Kyle, and Christopher, son Richard, and son-in-law Rick. Following the Mass, lunch will be served downstairs. Those who wish to remember the lady we all knew and loved can do so by supporting the work and efforts of the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB. R3C 4G2.
