ALBERT STORDEUR September 26, 1924 May 13, 2006 Surrounded by the love of his family, Albert peacefully joined our Lord on May 13, 2006 at the Grace General Hospital, at the age of 81. Remaining to cherish Bert's memory is his loving wife Alma; and sons, John (Louise), Ralph (Sandra); grandchildren, Craig (Lasha), Chele (Terry); great-grandsons, Kiefer, Kaedyn, Karter, Nolan and Jackson; sisters-in-law, Doris Lambert, Lea Cronier, Sophie Arpin and Margaret Arpin; grand-puppy Chelsea; good friend and cousin Art, close cousin Sr. Helene Poiron; stepbrothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Jean and Florentine (Poiron) Stordeur, brother George Stordeur, and stepfather Claude Thomas. Albert was born in St. Boniface. With the sudden passing of his father at the tender age of 1 1/2 years, the family relocated to St. Labre, MB. He ventured on to become a reputed farm hand at the age of 14, enlisting to active service at 17. Returning as a Second World War veteran, he married his lifelong love Alma on May 20, 1950. Albert was employed by the CN Railway as a journeyman in the Mechanical Dept., retiring with 38 years service. Dad was a generous soul, he was a devoted and active member in the Church, his strong sense of spirit and faith filled our home. Bert had a reputation among his family and friends as a skilled handyman and crafty crib player. As a younger man Albert was a competitive roller skater and dancer at the Winnipeg Roller Rink. With Dad, family always came first; home life was his greatest joy. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Katherine Cameron and all the Home Care staff, the dedicated caregivers at West Park Manor Personal Care Home as well as Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. George and all the nurses and staff on the fifth floor of the Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion. To Msgr. M. Comeault, our deepest gratitude for the many visits to dad in his time of need. For the many whose lives Albert touched, a memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed John XXIII R.C. Parish, 3390 Portage Ave with Msgr. M. Comeault presiding. A reception will follow in the Church Hall immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions may be made in Albert's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division. Too dearly loved to ever be forgotten.
