EVA MARIE BRONSON On May 10, 2006, Eva joined her angels, peacefully, with her son Rick holding her hand and her brother Steve and sister Dianne at her side. Eva was happy to have a recent visit with her sister Eileen and niece Debbie. Eva Marie was born to parents Mary and Stanley Bartecki on January 24, 1942. She was a busy child following her big sister and her two brothers. She was especially close to Steve. She in turn became big sister to Dianne and Eileen. Her grandparents were Stephen and Mabel Speeder and Alex and Eileen Bartecki in Riverton and Hnausa, MB, and she enjoyed many visits to these places. Eva worshipped Elvis Presley and belonged to his fan club as a young teen, and to this date, accumulated numerous items of her idol. The circle of life was not always easy for Eva but she always maintained a sense of accountability and a sense of humour. On June 2, 1960 her most precious son Rick was born. So as a young mom she struggled to make ends meet and did the best she knew how. In 1967, she and her family relocated to Victoria, BC. On April 18, 1968 she began her career at the Empress Hotel. Eva was a faithful employee for 34 years. Eva was predeceased by her big brother Edward and his wife Anne; her father Stanley and her brother-in-law Gary. Eva is survived by her son Rick, her beloved mother Mary, Winnipeg; sister Vicky Duma (Stan) and family, Winnipeg; brother Steve (Marilyn) of Nanaimo, BC; Dianne Michaluk and family, Minnedosa, MB; Eileen St. Mars and family, Winnipeg; Aunt Grace Haskey, Calgary, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews and extended aunts and cousins. Eva also leaves her second family , all her good friends and co-workers at the Empress Hotel. We, the family, thank you for all your love and support and for always being there for Eva when we couldn't be. The family would like to thank Dr. McMurtrie and all the wonderful staff on 5b south at the Victoria General Hospital, for the great care she received. Thank you for your graciousness and respect shown to Eva, and thank you for your overwhelming care and concern you gave us. Cremation has taken place. Each of us is unique in his own way. There is a divine purpose behind the life of everyone who comes into the world, no one has been created for nothing. We have something to learn from everyone. This is the mystery of humility.
