Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANGELA (NELLIE) SEMENKO It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother Angela Semenko on Friday May 19, 2006. She was born to Lawrence and Maria Grycki in Cooks Creek, MB on July 16 1904, the youngest of seven children. She attended Sapton school. She married Nicholas Semenko and farmed in Sand Hill were they raised their seven children. As well as farming they later operated a store and post office. She was predeceased by her son Edward in 1941, her husband Nicholas in 1948, and her daughter Elaine in 1981. She leaves three sons, David (Anne), John (Noreen), Larry (Sharon) and two daughters Irene Beers (Dwayne), Diane Loader (Al) and 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She moved to Selkirk in 1965 and worked in Winnipeg for a number of years. During the 60s, 70s and 80s she had the opportunity to travel which she enjoyed immensely. Jamaica was her favourite travel location. She was keenly interested in world events and sports, particularly hockey which she loved to watch on TV. Cooking, baking, gardening having visitors, were her other favourite activities. She loved flowers and always had many houseplants. The house on the farm later her home in Selkirk always had a wide assortment of flowers. Keeping her freezer well stocked with perogies and muffins was something she enjoyed until at the age of 97 her failing eyesight and lack of mobility necessitated her move to Betel Home. She enjoyed the friendships, activities church services and entertainment at Betel. The family wishes to thank the staff at Betel Home for their care and dedication. We would also like to extend our thanks to Dr. Demsas and the staff at Selkirk District General Hospital for their care. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church 530 Atlantic Ave, Beausejour on Thursday May 25 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow. Interment will be at the Sand Hill cemetery.
