CAPTAIN NICHOLA KATHLEEN SARAH GODDARD (1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery) 1980 - 2006 Captain Nichola Kathleen Sarah Goddard was killed in action, Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in the Panjway district, Kandahar, Afghanistan. Nichola was born on May 2, 1980, in Madang, Papua New Guinea. Nichola is mourned by her husband Jason Beam, of Shilo, MB; her parents, Tim and Sally Goddard; and sisters, Victoria and Kate, of Calgary, AB; grandparents, Betty Goddard and the late Anthony Goddard (Llangwnnadl, North Wales) and Michael and Kathleen West (Sault Ste Marie, ON). On her father's side, uncles Simon (Heather) Goddard, Aberdaron, North Wales; Paul (Janet, Rachel, Jack), Rainham, Kent; Patrick, Colwyn Bay, North Wales; and Michael (Corinne, Sebastian), Croydon, Surrey. On her mother's side, aunts, Elizabeth (David, Alistair, Andrew), Winnipeg, MB; Alison (Jeff, Luke, Clare, Sophie), Arnprior, ON; Hilary (Patrick, Sarah, Hannah, Rebecca, Patrick Jr.), Clarksburg, WV; and Fiona (Bill, Tess), Doha, Qatar. Nichola leaves many relatives, friends and colleagues around the world, all of whom she touched with her laughter and her smile. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis Holloway's Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Thursday, May 25 from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church (1407 - 7th Avenue N.W.) on Friday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. Nichola will be interred at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces, Ottawa at a later date.
