Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN KASHTON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Kashton on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the age of 78. Helen was born in Sandy Lake, MB on December 29, 1927, the youngest of 12 children of John and Mary Bachewich. She married Joseph Kashton in 1956 and they had three children, Diane, David and Dennis. Joe and Helen lived in Winnipeg, Port Arthur, Atikokan and Lac du Bonnet before finally settling down on the family farm at Seddon's Corner. Mom was an equal partner with Dad in running the farm. She could throw a bale and drive a farm truck with the best of them. Mom kept a weather journal for over a decade for garden and crop planning and always had a big garden and lots of preserves. She was a great cook with her specialty being Ukrainian food. Mom looked forward to family gatherings and celebrations and went back home to Sandy Lake as often as she could. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League in Beausejour for many years and church activities were an important part of her life. Left to cherish her memory are children, Diane, David (Cheryl), Dennis; sister Teenie; sister-in-law Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by husband Joe in 1986; her parents, John and Mary; sisters, Kay, Annie, Dora, Rosie, Mary and Olga; brothers, Mike, John, Peter and Joseph. Parish prayers are Friday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. and funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in Beausejour with Deacon Stefan Tynawski officiating.
