BRIAN GORDON NOWAK It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandpa on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 57 years. Brian was predeceased by his father Lloyd. Brian will be lovingly remembered by his wife Christine; his daughter April Gusta (Glen); his sons, Jeff (Danielle) and Andrew; granddaughter Kailey Gusta; loyal friend Koko; his mother Mary; and two brothers Richard and Bob (Trudy) as well as extended family and good friends of many years. Brian was able to spend a number of special months with his precious granddaughter Kailey. Grandpa could be found curled up with Kailey in bed watching their favourite cartoons. Brian was born in Winnipeg in 1949. In 1972 he married his high school sweetheart Christine and began their life together. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro/Centra Gas for 36 years in the accounting department and then in sales and marketing, retiring in December 2004. Brian, Chris and family spent many memorable years at their cabin on Gull Lake. We have fond memories of fishing, blueberry picking and countless family rides on the three wheelers. Nearly every weekend Brian could be found at one garage sale or another wheeling and dealing. It was something he really enjoyed and if time had permitted he most likely would have set up a buy and sell business. In 1996 Brian and Chris started Latin American and country dancing. Most recently Brian was very excited to be doing demonstrations each Friday with Deb and Glenn's Cowboys dance group. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Menkis and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the GH3 ward of Health Sciences Centre. A very special thank you to Chris's sister Liz Tomczij for all that she has done for our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Brian Nowak to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, in care of the CVT Cardiac Unit, 409 Taché Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
