NETTIE NEUFELD Nettie Neufeld (nee BRAUN) July 6, 1911 May 21, 2006 On Sunday, May 21, 2006, Nettie Neufeld, beloved wife of the late Henry Neufeld and mother to Dick and Ed Neufeld, eagerly went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ. Nettie will be fondly remembered by her son, Dick (Doreen), and their children Brenley (Michael) Susser, Tayne (Kevin) Lyle and Richard Neufeld, as well as her son Ed (Barbara),and his children Alissa Neufeld and Derick (Carol) Neufeld, and Barbara's sons, Blaine (Chrystel), Brian (Marlene), Blair (Nicole) and Bruce (April) Mineault. Nettie felt blessed to have also had eight lovely great-grandchildren, Shanel, Brookley and Brogan Susser, and Foster, Delaney, Shea, Redford and Cullen Lyle. Nettie Braun was born in Hildburghausen, Germany on July 6, 1911, lived her early years in Russia, and immigrated to Canada in 1926. She married Henry Neufeld in 1933, and raised their two sons while both working outside the home at T. Eaton Co, and being a valued member of her church's ladies' auxiliary. Energetic and creative, Nettie was an accomplished homemaker, who enjoyed travelling across Canada to visit her many friends, sewing, baking, entertaining and in later years, documenting her life in a memoir. Nettie loved Christmas Eve, beautiful clothes, eating cold watermelon on a hot day, and having her picture taken. No one ever enjoyed their own birthday party, complete with the requisite Jeanne's cake, more than Nettie. Her family will be ever grateful to the staff at Calvary Place, her home for the last five years, for the kindness and loving attention they gave her. In lieu of flowers, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 will gratefully accept donations in her honour. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, May 26, 2006, at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, with viewing at 10:00 am, Funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
