Joyce is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Dave), Debbie (Greg) Shelly, Nancy (Brent) and son Tiff (Kasey); her grandchildren Katie, Christopher, Jamie, Madison, Kevyn, Griffin and Anika; many close cousins, nieces and nephews; brothers Gunnar Thorvaldson, Augie (Carolyn) Thorvaldson; sisters Gloria (Mike) Tilleman, Gladys (Doug) Wirth; and sister-in-law Evelyn Thorvaldson. She was always proud of her children and enjoyed her grandchildren. Joyce was born in Oak Point, MB to Helgi and Margret Thorvaldson on July 5, 1931 and was named after both of her grandmothers. Joyce was always very intelligent and mature, popular and excelled in school. After graduation from high school in Oak Point she attended Success College and worked as a secretary. She always had good taste in clothes and dressed fashionably. She had beautiful penmanship and an infectious laugh. She enjoyed keeping current with political events. She was proud of her Icelandic heritage and baked the traditional Ponnokukor and Vinaterta. Joyce and Bill would go on their boat the Icelandic Delight and enjoyed being on the water. She was a kind, loving, generous sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She married Bill Tonn in 1954. They moved to Burnaby in 1965 where she helped him with his business. She enjoyed going with her daughters to the casinos. She was looking forward to the family reunion in Kamloops in August. She was predeceased by her parents (1959 and 1978), her sisters Bernice (1984) and Rose (2000), brother Gordon (2005) and husband Bill Tonn (2004).
