RAYMOND LAGASSE May 5, 1927 - May 22, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather (pépère), great-grandfather, brother, uncle (mononcle) and friend. Raymond is predeceased by his parents Amédée and Rose-Anna (Vermette) of Saint Adolphe, brothers Armand, Léonidas, Osias, Denis, sister Rolande and two sons Gérald and René. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Alma (Fenez); daughters Aline (James Harder), Doris (Raymond Laurencelle), Yvette (Daniel Parisien); grandchildren, Michael (Dana), Debra (Lewis), Danielle (David), Chantal, Janelle, Dean and Dominique and great-grandchildren, René, Max, Isabelle and Sawyer. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Marie-Ange, Eveline, Donalda (Henri) and Claudette; his brothers, Edgar (Rachelle), Richard (Mae), Roland (Liliane), Jean (Armelle) and Marcel (Diana) and his sisters-in-law, Marie-Laure, Albertine and Annette, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond grew up and received his education (à la petite école) in St. Adolphe where he helped raise livestock and grew wheat on the family farm. During the winter months as a young man Raymond worked in bush camps for eight seasons. After marrying in 1951 the couple bought land south of St. Adolphe and continued to farm. Jack-of-all-trades, Raymond also worked in the sugar beet factory, drove the school bus, served as councillor for the Municipality of Ritchot for nine years and reeve for six years. Raymond was an incredibly sociable man who actively and willingly participated in numerous committees within the church and community. He was president of the Club Amicale for many years and was also a member of Les Chevaliers de Colomb. The family would like to thank the benevolent staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their diligent care and compassion and a very special thanks to Soeur Pauline and his sister, Claudette for their graciously unlimited help and support. The service will be held at the Paroisse St. Adolphe Parish Friday, May 26. Prayers will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the St. Adolphe Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
