FREDERICK HERMANN STREICH 1917 - 2006 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend at his home in Selkirk on Friday, May 23, 2006. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Freda, his brother William, his father Adolphe, his mother Otillie, and his son Ronald. He leaves to mourn his son Dale (Gwen); daughter Karen (Brent); grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Ronald, and great granddaughter, Hannah; grandsons, Paul (Kathy) and Todd Moar; their sister Wendy and mother Judith (Ian); sister-in-law Meta Streich; nephews, James (Marion), Garry (Margaret), and Herbert (Audrey); many friends in the community and in his church family. Dad was born in Niverville, MB, but grew up on the Fillmore Farm east of Clandeboye, MB. There, he met Freda Sanderson of Treherne, MB and they married in 1941. They moved to their own farm west of Clandeboye in 1944 where they raised their three children. Dad and Mom retired to Selkirk in 1976. Over his 89 years, Dad displayed his many and varied skills as a musician, a singer, a welder, a mechanic, an electrician, a farmer, a builder, a school bus driver, and much, much more. He was active in the community and served on the local school board for several years. He was a committed member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served there in many capacities. To the end, Fred cherished his freedom to live independently in his own home, drive his own car, manage his own affairs, and call his own shots! He loved his family, cared for our dear mother as her health failed, and was always a solid foundation for our family. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (6088 PTH 9A in Selkirk) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 with Pastor David Saude officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund at Box 448, Selkirk, MB R1A 2B3 Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
