BETTY SISMAN (nee GLESBY) January 5, 1915 - May 16, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Betty Sisman. Her parents Clara and Samuel; husband Ben; son Ronald; brothers, Alex, Ike, Bill, Harry and Jackie predeceased her. Betty was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg and was a graduate of St. John's High School. She married Ben Sisman in 1938 and they were happily married for 66 years. Betty loved attending theatre, musical events and entertaining family and friends. She was accepting of others and took a keen and sincere interest in people's lives. Her respect for confidentiality enhanced her many friendships. Betty was a woman of dignity, honesty, compassion and integrity. Never one to complain, she took everything in her stride. Her soft spoken and placid nature did not divulge her exceptional inner strength. Betty was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter Sharolyn; cousin Betty Glesby; brothers, Bert and Charlie; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty will be missed and will be in our thoughts every day. Loving friends and family had always surrounded Betty during her life, and even in her final hours, her bedroom was filled with caring and compassionate people. The love that she had given in her lifetime was returned full circle. Funeral services were held on May 18 at the Etz Chayim Synagogue. Rabbi Balzar officiated. Interment followed at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charlie, Brent and Barbie Glesby; Cory and Daryn Chernick; and Marilyn Druxman. Thanks to Betty's many caregivers, nurse Louise D., Nellie Lady of the Night and Dr. Aaron Mellon and his staff. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
