WOLODYMR (WALTER) KULYK It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of Wolodymr (Walter) Kulyk on Thursday, May 25, 2006. Walter leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 42 years, Nadia Kulyk; children, Jerry Kulyk (Janet), Walter Kulyk Jr., Vera Tokar (Brian), Luba Karos (Barry), Donald Bilesky and Robert Bilesky (Lois). He will also be sadly missed by his 13 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Walter was born July 15, 1914 in Cejenchi, Ukraine. At an early age he joined the Ukrainian army and was a Cossak until the war was over and was awarded a medal of bravery. After the war he worked at many trades. Walter came to Canada in 1953, where he worked odd jobs before settling in Winnipeg. He soon got a job at Motor Coach Industries, where he became a very skilled welder, staying with the company for over 30 years. Not ready to retire at age 65, he continued working until he was 70. Walter was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He took pride in the many things he could do with just the tools at hand and was especially proud of the cottage he built at Matlock. All his summers for the next 40 years were spent there. His lifelong hobby was watch and clock repair, and would spend hours tinkering with the tiny parts of a watch. He enjoyed all the family get-togethers at home and the cottage and always enjoyed having his friends drop by for visits. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the nursing staff of Unit 5/5 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Prayers will be held on Sunday, May 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with funeral service on Monday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. also at the Chapel with Rev. Fr. Cornell Zubritsky officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. XPUCTOC BOCKPEC CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
