Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JAMES STEWART HALL On May 24, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Donald James Stewart Hall, at the age of 72 years, went home to be with his Lord. As a young boy, he accepted Jesus as his Saviour and has left a legacy of faith for his family to follow. Don is survived by his wife Laura; daughter Katherine (Oliver) Marks; sons, Gavin (Becky) Hall and Dr. Andrew Hall; grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah Jane and Benjamin Marks and Abigail, Ethan and Cassidy Hall. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Ellingson, Grace Rollins, Agnes Giesbrecht, Margaret Rose (Charles) Broadhead, Florence (James) Ronald, Irene (Gordon) Mitchell and Sharon (Norm) Giesbrecht; one brother Alex Hall and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothea and James Hall and sisters, Lenore Henderson and Joan Myketa. Don was born on the family farm in Minitonas, MB, and grew up in the Swan River Valley. After graduating from Teachers' College in Winnipeg, he taught for several years at St. James Collegiate. In 1961-2, he established and taught at a high school in Belize. Returning to Canada, he met and married Laura Cooper in 1963. His subsequent teaching career took him from Selkirk to various schools in the Assiniboine South and Charleswood school divisions, finally retiring from Shaftesbury Collegiate in 1994. Don was an avid supporter of Faith Bible Camp, spending many summers at camp in various capacities, including General Manager. Throughout his teaching career he spent a lot of time coaching sports teams and mentoring school clubs. He was involved with Inter-School Christian Fellowship and tutoured foreign students through Inter Varsity. Don was also a founding member of Assiniboia Charleswood Community Church. From 1978 to 2004 he was an Elder and had remained Pastor in charge of Pastoral Care and Men's Ministry. His church family was always an abiding joy and interest for him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Pat Harris and Cancer Care and also Drs. Ritchie and Schroeder, Chaplains Major Doris and Captain Faye of the Salvation Army and the staff of the 5th floor at the Grace Hospital, for their many kindnesses and care for Don. Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Assiniboia Charleswood Community Church, 760 Charleswood Road, with a reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made in Don's memory to the ACC Building Fund, Faith Bible Camp or charity of your choice.
