Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE GLADYS FURRIE Peacefully on Thursday May 25, 2006 Beatrice passed away at the Health Sciences Center at the age of 89. Beatrice Bea Furrie, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Shuttleworth is survived by her sister Mabel of Vancouver; daughter Bernice (son-in-law Doug); grandchildren Roxanne (Terry), Robby (Joni); great-grandchildren Jesse and Karley Maxwell; son Jack, daughter-in-law Kate; grandchildren Billy, Shelly (Steve), Marilyn (Colin), Leslie (Tanya); great-grandchildren Kristen, Shannon, Becky, Kailey, Breanna, Katelyn, Dawn, Kelly (Stephanie), Denim, Raylene, Dawson and Sierra; great great grandson Quinton; numerous nieces and nephews. Bea, as she was affectionately known, was born at Grass River, MB (Westbourne Municipality) in 1916. When she was a year old, the family moved to Kinosota and later at 5 years old, moved to Horse Bluff, living there until her marriage in 1937 to Bernie Furrie. In 1963, Bea worked at the Headingley Husky until 1967. for the next 2 years, Bea worked at various jobs in Alberta and Saskatchewan, moving back to Winnipeg in 1969. Bea bought her own home at 444 St. Charles Street in 1970. She opened her home and her heart to many people over the years and was a second mom to many people in the Racetrack Community. Bea worked at Assiniboia Downs at the Racetrack Kitchen beginning in the year 1970 for several different employers. In 1980, Bea and her Daughter, Bernice, took over the running of the facility. In later years, her granddaughter, Roxanne, took over most of Bea's duties; however she continued to work part-time until 2003. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
