JANICE WILLIAMSON After a lengthy and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Janice Williamson died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, 10 days short of her 68th birthday. Janice is survived by her husband Dave; her daughters, Linda (Paul), Wendy (Barry) and Laura (Mark); her son Jim (Karen); her brother Nick; her grandchildren, Jaden and Luke; and her stepgranddaughter Sydney. Janice was happiest when she was active, and she was active for most of her life, as a golfer, bowler, curler, tennis player and skier. For many years she was an adventurous camper, but then she settled down to the less hectic life of Victoria Beach. She and Dave were part of a rambunctious gang that spent countless weekends commuting to Mount Agassiz Ski Hill near McCreary, and there were many winters when the south beckoned ! Florida or Arizona, and even Australia for two months in 1997. Janice loved their trips by plane to Europe, Hawaii and New York, or by car to either coast, but perhaps her favourite was the Caribbean cruise she took the whole family on in 1992. Her volunteer work with groups like the St. Agnes Guild culminated in her being chair of the Children's Hospital Book Market. In her many years of raising four children, she became a wildly enthusiastic fan ! of everything from high school stage plays to gymnastic competitions and she would think nothing of traveling 1000 miles by car to see the Irish Tenors perform, or stuffing the entry box to assure herself of winning an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago to meet Regis and Kathy Lee. But her greatest love was her family and her home. If careers of husband and children could be thought of as productions, she was the producer-director. The family would like to pay tribute to the staff of Grace Hospital Cancer Care Clinic for their care and support of Janice over the past three and a half years. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A celebration of Janice's life will take place immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Janice. This lovely lady was always so upbeat and kind. It was an honour to call Janice "friend". Our sincere condolences to the Williamson family. - Posted by: Murray & Eleanor Krovats (Friend) on: May 29, 2006
