Date of Passing: May 28, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD DAVID GUDZ After a courageous battle with cancer, Don passed away on May 28, 2006. He is loved and missed very much by his wife Delma; daughters, Nadine and Cheryl (Alexia); his brother Howard (Marilyn); and his parents, Lydia and Henry. A true Winnipegger at-heart, Don was born and raised in Winnipeg's North End. He studied at the University of Winnipeg, where he was well known as a writer for the student newspaper and from other involvements on campus. Don's interest in current affairs was nurtured by his early career in media, which took him to Australia and New Zealand. Don thoroughly enjoyed travelling, reading, nature, and sports. A music enthusiast and record collector like no other, his collection contains many rare jewels from a variety of genres, jazz in particular. Don's warmth, kindness and generosity shone through in how he interacted with the world on a daily basis. Non-judgemental and well-cultured, he placed the highest value on education. He will be remembered for his amazing intelligence, steadiness, adaptability and patience, open-mind and unwavering strength. The family would like to thank all medical support staff who worked hard to ensure his comfort and well-being; in particular Dr. S. Ahmed, Dr. F. Crow, Christine Newell, Mary Ashcroft, Harriet Yarmil, and Bien Ramos. In accordance with Don's wishes, a small service with family and close friends will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster.
