FRANCIS (FRANK) STONOGA Frank Stonoga passed away on May 27, 2006 at the Vancouver General Hospital after a brief illness. Uncle Frank was born September 12, 1926 in Zbaraz, MB the youngest of eleven children. He was an adventurous fellow and as a young adult, he left the familiarity of the farm to travel east and then west. Upon reaching the West coast, he started his life-long career as a Longshoreman. After a number of years working at various ports on the coast, he settled in Vancouver. He is survived by his sisters Mary Sobkowich of Fisher Branch, MB and Steffie Iwaniw of Thunder Bay; and brother Mike Stonoga of Zbaraz, MB. Uncle Frank chose to live a simple life without a lot of material possessions. Instead, he gave of his money and time to helping others. His door was always open and it was very rare that he didn't have one of his tasty soups or stews ready to serve. Besides your cooking, Uncle Frank, we will miss your many stories, your honest opinions and your catchy laugh after you told a joke. May the Angels carry you on your new adventure and may your soul rest in peace. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 525 Campbell Street, East Vancouver. Arrangements entrusted to Kearney Funeral Services (604) 736-0268.
