EDWARD JOHN TYMCHUK Peacefully, following a brief battle with cancer, Edward Tymchuk passed away on Monday May 29, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Tim, Patsy (Barry), Lisa (Dan, Landon and Dawson); and his two sisters, Helen and Irene as well as numerous cousins. Ed was predeceased by his wife Jean in August 2003, his mother Irene in 2002 and his father Harry in 1987. Ed was born on February 5, 1931 and graduated from Lord Selkirk High School and married Jean in 1957 and continued to reside in Elmwood where they raised their family and shared their golden years together. After serving 45 years in the position as timekeeper with the Transcona CN Shops, he looked forward to spending time with his family and many friends. As a proud long-standing member of the Elmwood Hardknockers, Ed enjoyed golfing and curling and many laughs with his good friends. Ed was a wonderful father, and made sure that not many weekends went by without a fun outing to Grand Beach or a trip to Lockport. Although at times money was tight, he always insisted that the family have a summer vacation together. Ed could always be counted on to be outside with the kids whether it was building snow slides or forts in the winter or playing catch or filling up a wading pool in the summer months. In Ed's later years, he received a great deal of pleasure in gardening and spending time in his back yard talking to his neighbours and lending a helping hand whenever needed. A day was never missed where his dogs, Amos and most recently, Casey, didn't go for a walk whether it was rain or shine. Ed had an amazing appetite for the news and current affairs and loved a lively debate on just about any subject, but especially politics. Ed was proud of his political aspirations, having been a candidate in several civic elections. Over the last couple of years, Ed really looked forward to the evening card games at Mike and Marion's and of course, being a good Grandpa to Landon and Dawson who truly adored him and will miss him greatly. Their frequent hospital visits made him beam with pride and delight. When he learned of his illness, he spoke many times that his one regret was not being able to see the boys grow up. His memory will be treasured by all of us. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Riverview for making Ed's final days comfortable. Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Reception to follow. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9 or to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, R3L 2P4. You were always there when we needed you No task too great or small With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did them all Thanks for the years you gave us And for the precious times we shared We only pray when you left us You knew how much we cared God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be He put his arms around you And said come unto me CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Tenderly may time heal your sorrow. Greatly may friends ease your pain. Softly may peace replace heartache. And may warmest memories remain. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Louise Ross - Posted by: Louise Ross (Friend) on: May 31, 2006
