NATALE VERSACE January 6, 1950 - May 29, 2006 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Natale, at St. Boniface Hospital, on May 29, 2006, with his family by his side. Natale was born in Delianova, Reggio Calabria, Italy and came to Canada on October 7, 1967 to join the rest of his family. Natale was predeceased by both his parents, Francesco and Antonia Versace. Natale leaves to mourn his passing his much beloved wife Carmela (Melina); his son Gianfranco; stepsons, Giovanni, Rocco and Antonino; stepdaughter Graziella; sisters, Giuseppina (late Antonio) Princi, Teresa (Antonio) Pugliese in Hamilton, ON; brother Antonio (Angela); sister Giovanna (Antonio) Torquato; brother Giovanni (Domenica). Also remembering him dearly in Italy are his parents-in-law, Giuseppe and Maria Laurito as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, Rocco and Francesca Laurito, Enzo and Iole Laurito, Mimma and Melo Mezzatesta, Graziella and Michele Carbone, Caterina and Nicola D'angelo, and in Australia Rosa and Angelo Papalia, Franca and Joe Barilla, Angela and Pat Catanzariti, Paolo and Nancy Laurito and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Italy, France, the United States and Australia. Natale was a tremendously generous and kind person. He never held a grudge and always spoke kindly to everyone he knew. He had great hairdressing skills, and he provided much joy to a lot of people through his skillful manipulations of hair, gracious chair-side listening skills, and quasi-counselor sessions provided to his many customers over the years. A prayer service will be held on Friday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with burial mass on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Presiding the service will be Fr. Sam Argenziano. Entombment will be at the Assumption Cemetery, Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, at 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be nephews Saverio Torquato, Frank and Armando Versace and stepsons, Giovanni, Rocco and Antonino Scarcella. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. R. Wong and Dr. P. Daeninck as well as the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital's Palliative Care Unit, for the excellent care and support provided. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Natale Versace to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to a charity of one's choice.
