MARTIN MARGULIUS Peacefully, on May 7, 2006, Marty passed away at the age of 71. He is survived by his children, Mandy and Grisha Yakubovich, Alan and Julie Margulius; grandchildren Sari and Alexa Yakubovich, and Macy Margulius; his sister Carolyn Manosevitz; and his aunts, cousins and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Manya and Alex Margulius. When Marty was in his early 20's his father passed away prematurely leaving him in charge of the family business, Alex Margulius Distributors (later changed to Alex Margulius Merchandisers). Although it was no easy feat for a kid to be taken seriously in the business world, Marty managed to gain the respect of his suppliers and customers, as well as the loyalty of his staff. Under his leadership the business grew and became one of the most successful of its kind. In the early 80's Marty was vigorously pursued by Coremark International, and in 1983 sold his business to them. He then became Senior Vice President of Coremark until his retirement. Marty's exterior was tough, but those closest to him knew that he had a soft heart, particularly visible during his last couple of years. Many thanks to Dr. Jack Rusen, Dr. John Rabson, and Estrellida, and Rhonda at the Heart Failure Clinic for their compassionate care. Funeral services were held on May 10, at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Pallbearers were Teddy and Alan Margulius, Fred Berenbaum, David Guberman, Jeff Kliman, Manny Sousa, Lanny Jacob, and Rolly Courchaine. Honorary pallbearers were Lowell Hurwitz and Brian Margolis. Donations in Marty's memory may be made to the Greg Yakubovich Endowment Fund at Hebrew University (942-3085) or Bread For The Journey of Atlanta; 2470 West Madison Dr., Atlanta, GA, 30360.
