Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN R. KIT Dearly loved husband, father and Papa, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior on May 30, 2006 at the age of 80. Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 48 years, Margaret; daughter Kathy and son-in-law John Haaksma; son Doug and daughter-in-law Sandy and grandchildren, Derek and Laura Haaksma and Ryan Kit. He will also be missed by his sister Mary and sister-in-law Stella, and all of his nieces and nephews and his many friends. Steve was predeceased by his parents Alex and Katherine Kit and his brother John. Steve was born on April 6, 1926 and raised in Cook's Creek, MB where he received his schooling and made life-long friends. He enlisted in the army in 1945 and served for 14 months. He worked for Chipman Chemicals/CIL for 21 years and in 1967 he joined Air Canada Finance and retired in 1991. After retirement, Steve and Margaret spent nine happy winters as snowbirds in Florida. Steve enjoyed a life-long love of sports; he was an avid golfer and curler. He was also a faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker church for many years and he served his church in several capacities including membership in the Knights of Columbus. Above all else, Steve loved his family. He was especially proud of and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humour that provided lots of laughter. Steve was a loving husband, caring father and Papa and a great friend. We will love him and miss him always. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their gentle and compassionate care. A celebration of Steve's new life will be held on Monday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St. in Transcona with Rev. Fr. Carl Tarnopolski , V.G. officiating.
