Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MARGARET EVELYN MURRAY (nee THICKSON) 1913 - 2006 With deep sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn on Monday, May 29, 2006. Predeceased by her husband James (Jim); her son Lawrence; infant daughter Marilyn; her parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Thickson; her brothers, Clarence, Bruce and William. Left to love and cherish her memory are her son Gerry (Betty) Murray; her daughter Sharilyn (Al) Torn; her daughter-in-law Marlene Murray; and her six grandchildren, Sean (Michelle) Murray, Deanne (Rob) Jabs, Kevin (Paula) Murray, Rob (Laura) Murray, Marina (Merv) Loewen, Erin (Brian) Weiser; and 14 great-grandchildren, Jason, Ryan (Kara), Jordon, Michaela, Mark, Mercedes, Amanda, Brendan Murray; Melissa Morrow and Kara Idzik; Kaleb and Kristjan Murray; Van Murray; Katrina Jabs; her sisters-in-law, Muriel Braid and Adele Thickson; also many nieces, nephews, clients and friend including Barbara Greig. Evelyn was born August 20, 1913 in Pierson MB, grew up in several places in Manitoba, in Winnipeg she attended General Wolfe and Daniel McIntyre. Hoping to have a career in dress design she took a course in dressmaking but being in the 30's she was happy to be able to get a job at Eaton's. Evelyn's child rearing years were filled with many crafts, interests and skills from sewing to square dancing. Many a New Year's Eve she chorded on the piano while Jim played the violin. Her dressmaking helped Jim in the Janis Lynn Shop in Selkirk. Then widowed at 60, and having long being interested in herbs and vitamins, she worked for Carman Ruttan and Vita Health. At 70, Evelyn became a reflexologist, working with Marcel and Yvette Poiron and Shaklee products. Then she immersed herself in the care of her clients until recently. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview, Misericordia Health Centre and Grace for all their care and concern. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul The Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave. with Fr. Mark Tarrant officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Nativity, Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
