RITA COYSTON (nee BRODEUR) Peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2006, with family at her side, Rita Coyston passed away after a long battle with cancer. She fought with determination, courage and dignity, which earned her the respect of all who knew her. Rita was predeceased by her husband Bernie, daughter Claire and brother Leo. She is lovingly remembered by her son Chris (Karen); daughter Janice (Chris); and by her grandchildren, Charlene (Brian), Greg, Dan, Jacky; and great-granddaughter Emily. She will also be missed by her sisters, Lucille, Pat (Marcel); and brother Roland (Irene) as well as the Coyston family, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was born and raised on August 6, 1925 in St. Boniface, MB. She spent most of her adult life in St. Vital. She worked for many years at The Bay. She and her husband, Bernie were one of the founders of Christ the King Parish and attended church there for many years. She enjoyed playing golf and loved to spend the winter months with Bernie in Palm Springs. She always looked forward to camping with her family and could outlast us around the fire at night! She was a feisty lady and lived her life with enthusiasm. We will miss her. Our family would like to thank Dr. Gabrielle, Dr. Dabrowska and all the staff at the St. Boniface Oncology Unit for their care and compassion for Rita while she was in their care. A special thank you to her friends at Vic Wyatt House for their friendship and support. A Mass of the resurrection will take place on Monday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 547 St. Mary's Rd. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway No. 1 East, Fermor and Navin Road. A time of fellowship will follow at Christ the King Church after interment. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers and would very much appreciate donations to Cancer Care Manitoba, Room ON160675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (phone 787-4143).
