RODERICK JOSEPH WEINFORTNER April 25, 1973 - May 31,2006 It is with saddened hearts we bid farewell to Rod. His journey to eternal paradise began on the morning of May 31, 2006. Although our hearts ache with his passing, he left us with a peaceful silence of relief from his suffering. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Josef and Emily (nee Kamenicky); brother Adrian and wife Grace (nee McCarron); wife Amy (nee Mehlhoff) and his two boys, Tristan and Alec. Rod was born in Winnipeg and began his education at Holy Ghost School. He continued his studies at St. John's High School while playing one of his favourite sports, football. From there Rod travelled to North Dakota and studied at the University of Mary. While studying he met and married his wife Amy in the fall of 1995. It was there that they had their first son, Tristan. As a family they moved to Winnipeg where Rod began working at Maple Leaf. Shortly after they were blessed with their second miracle, Alec. Rod was a loving, caring father that would give the world to his boys. He played an active role in his children's education and always made sure they were enrolled in different activities and events: soccer, basketball camp, fishing as well as his love of dogs (especially his own dog, Titus). Rod was much more than a great father; he was a devoted husband, partner and very best friend. Employed with Maple Leaf for the majority of his working days, Rod would enjoy the weekends cheering for his two favourite teams, the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Lions. If he wasn't watching the game Rod would encourage his boys to practice shooting the basketball or tossing the football. And just a reason to be together as a family, he would curl up with Amy, Tristan and Alec with a bucket of popcorn to watch a movie. Truly a man for others, Rod made sure his boys were always top notch and were only given the best. Although you were here for a short period of time, we all cherished every second. We understand you are in better hands; it is just so hard for us to believe you are really gone. We will pray for you every night and hope you will greet us each one by one when our time comes. You may be gone but your name and memory will be with us always. We love you forever. God bless your soul. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, June 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up at Assiniboine Credit Union for his two boys. Donations would greatly be appreciated. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
