JOSEPH ROGER FRANK ADOLPHE With sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father on Thursday, June 1, 2006. Dad was born in Lorette, MB on October 24, 1925. Predeceased by his parents, Francois and Rosalie (nee Daigneault); his son Richard; sister Florence and her husband Albert Therrien; brothers, Eugene, Ernest, Guillaume and his wife Valerie, Marcel; sister-in-law Florence; and grandson Michael. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Lorraine (Bruce Goldring), Louise (Bob Cooper), Gerry (Charlotte), Shelley (Jack Weseen), Robert (Sheri), Paulette, Alain, and Lisa (Brian Rogers); and sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His devoted partner Annette Chop and step-children, Brenda, Robert (Sydney), Michael (Carrie) and step-grandson Zachary; sisters-in-law, Gertrude (Ernest) and Eva (Eugene); and brother Maurice. Dad left the farm, married our mother, Rita Remillard and embarked on a journey North to Flin Flon in 1947. This would prove to be both a joyful and perilous journey. During this time, his passion for life and the love of his family inspired uncommon strength, courage and determination. From the blue skies of Lorette to the smelter smoke and cold, damp confines of underground mines, Dad faced his fears, suffered injuries that plagued him to his death, became a recognized hero having saved the lives of three co-workers and became a respected friend to all and mentor to countless young men. He left Flin Flon with a mixed bag full of joy, sorrow and physical pain and soon began a new life with Annette. This love and devotion enabled dad to leave his strengths as a legacy to the generations that will follow. As the passion for life naturally diminishes, the love does not. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Parkinson Society Manitoba, 171 Donald Street, Suite 302, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1M4. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949.
