Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE HAHLWEG On June 1, 2006, at home and with his loving spouse and family at his side, George Hahlweg peacefully passed away. He was predeceased by parents Lucie and Alexander. He leaves behind his wife, Monika Ruchelski, brother Karl (Anni) and family, sons, Ron (Cheryl), Alex, Matthew, Sarah; Gord (Paula), Ethan, Louis; Ken (Lynne), Satya, Camille and Jakob, extended family, and many friends. George was born September 4, 1937 in Gruenhof, Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his parents and brother. George completed a four year painting apprenticeship and was self-employed for most of his career beautifying Winnipeg from 1976 to 1997, retiring in 2002. George's happiest moments were spent at his home in Loni Beach, Gimli sharing gardening work with Monika and feeding the birds. His home, self constructed as a cottage in 1971, has always been a gathering place for family and friends. His greatest gift to all was his kind and loving heart. George was a good man to all who crossed his path. We will all miss him very dearly. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow at the Unitarian Church at 603 Wellington Cres. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of George Hahlweg to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba. Special thanks to the IRHA Palliative Care personnel for their invaluable care and support.
