DOROTHY ANN MCCONNELL (HAGGLUND)
Date of Passing: Jun 03, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY ANN MCCONNELL (nee HAGGLUND) On Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre, Dorothy was released to our Maker. Our precious mother and loving wife will be deeply missed by her family with whom she shared the gifts of love, understanding and support. The desire to be a teacher at a young age and to gain and share knowledge were an integral part of Dorothy's personality. Teaching in several areas of Manitoba, from one-room schools to larger ones, provided many memories that Dorothy proudly shared until her passing. Meeting and marrying Murray, her life partner, led to her active participation in farming. This quickly became the focus of her life, and her enduring support over the years in the seed business and farming operation provided a way of life that she appreciated and enjoyed. She enriched the lives of daughters, Brenda and Colleen, by instilling her own passion for and belief of hardwork, love of music, education and enjoyment of the simple things in life. She supported local committees and also developed a love for gardening and her current display of plants and flowers are testament to this fact. Taking many cruises and experiencing different cultures leave many special memories that were shared with Murray. Particularly, a recent visit to Sweden gave her the opportunity to explore her heritage, which she took a keen interest in. Finally, as a very involved Nanna, she formed special bonds with all of her grandchildren, Brett, Derric, Cara, Odin and Chloe, and touched their lives in a way that will stay with them forever. She will be forever cherished by her husband Murray; daughters, Brenda (Ivan) Gulay, Colleen (Mike) Domino; sister Grace Barton, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Teulon United Church, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. We had hoped for a miracle, but had to accept that what happened was beyond anyone's control. We love you Mom, and you will be forever in our hearts until we meet again. Memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Teulon United Church. Rev. Patricia Baker will officiate. A private family interment will take place at Norris Lake Cemetery. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of arrangements.
