DAVID HOEPPNER On Monday, June 5, 2006, surrounded by his family, David died at the age of 80 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years Katherine; his daughters, Bertha (Wes), Sandra and Norma; grandsons, Evan and Graham; his brother John and his sister Helen. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Peter, Henry, Jake and Ernest; and sisters, Minnie and Katie. David grew up on a homestead in the Pembina Hills, south of Morden. After leaving the farm he travelled and had a number of different jobs including working in a gold mine and working for the railway in the Rockies. David found his calling as a finishing carpenter and was a real craftsman. He worked hard throughout his life and liked to be active. David loved nature and enjoyed camping road trips with his family. He particularly enjoyed returning to the mountains. Later in life, David did much walking and said hello to all those he met along the way. He was concerned about the well-being of others until the very end. He was devoted to his wife and family, and to God. His faith was strong. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff on floor 5 at the Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and care. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street in Winnipeg. There will be visitation at the Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway on Thursday, June 8, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Guests are invited to join the family in a reception at the church after the funeral. Interment will follow at Mennonite Memorial Gardens, 884 South Symington Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
