GEORGE PARTLOW EWING June 22, 1922 June 4, 2006 Peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2006, George passed away with his loving wife of 59 years at his side. Dad was predeceased by his brother William Robert Ewing, his daughter Linda Ruth Ewing, and his parents Eva Gertrude Ewing and Robert Stanley Ewing. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dad was proud of his military service with his brother, as navigators flying in Halifax bombers, with Bomber Command, two of the Boys of Kelvin High'. Dad will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth, son John and his wife Carol and son Matthew, daughter Mary and son Jason. Dad returned from the war, met and married the secretary, and worked at Western Elevator/ Power and Mine Supply for over 30 years, until he and John Lewis took over the company, until retirement. Dad enjoyed many years of great retirement with Mom, travelling across the United States and Canada to car and licence plate collector meets. He has always had a mischievous streak and great sense of humour. He was pragmatic and practical, with a deceptively cunning wit. He loved life. He formed friendships with so many people with his kindness and sincerity. He had a passion for old cars and collecting all manner of things, from swizzle sticks to streetcar tokens, from licence plates to old cars. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #90, the Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans Association, Wartime Pilots and Observer's Association, Past President of the Manitoba Electrical Association, Western Canada Water and Wastewater Association, Manitoba Classic and Antique Auto Club, Antique Auto Club of America, Auto Licence Plate Collectors Association, Winnipeg Stamp Club you get the idea. He was a busy guy, making friends all along the way. Special thanks to all the Homecare workers and the Victoria Hospital and, for the comfort provided to Dad by Palliative Care at St. Boniface.
