AUDREY HELENA STOCKTON (nee LAWRENCE) With her family at her side, Audrey peacefully passed away in Concordia Hospital on June 8, 2006. Audrey was born in Kamsack, SK on September 9, 1916, the youngest child of Ernest and Ethel Lawrence. She attended Elementary and High School in Kamsack before moving to Regina to attend the Success Business College following which she worked as a Provincial Civil Servant from 1936 to 1942. She moved to Toronto in 1942 and worked at the Canada Steamship Lines until 1946. While in Toronto, she met Howard - they hit it off immediately and were married on March 27, 1943. Following Howard's graduation from Dentistry in 1946 from the University of Toronto, they moved to Prince Rupert, BC for one year, and then settled in Virden, MB until 1971 when they moved to Winnipeg, and in 2000 Audrey moved out to Selkirk, MB to be near her daughter. Her fondest memories were of summers spend both at Madge and Carlyle Lakes where she enjoyed days spent at the beach with her family. We all remember Mom and Grandma's culinary skills - both in preparation as well as in quality. And every meal had to have dessert - from her homemade mincemeat tarts and pies to her sour cream and pumpkin pies. And of course there were her butter tarts - we have all been spoiled by them, as there is nothing to compare!! Each Christmas we all looked forward to her care package of wondrous baking! She was predeceased by her father Ernest and mother Carrie Ethel, in 1952 and 1963 respectively; daughter Carrie Lynn in 1955; husband Howard in 1986; sister Kathleen in 2005; and brother Sidney in 2006. Audrey is survived by sons, Lawrence (Heather) and James (Tammy); daughter Patricia Rae (Dave); grandchildren, Susan (Cory), Ashlee, Clarke, Reese, Owen and Shaley and great-grandson Davis. The family wishes to extend sincerest gratitude and thanks to Dr. Johnson and the staff at Concordia Hospital for the care and concern shown to Audrey during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
