CLIFFORD F. NOLEN 1927 - 2006 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Cliff Nolen of Bowsman, MB on May 29, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB, during surgery. Cliff was born January 28, 1927 and raised in the Boggy Creek area. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and spent the next 20 years stationed in Halifax and Ottawa and travelling the world. He married Betty Schooley of Bowsman, MB in 1949 and together they had three children. Cliff moved his family to Bowsman in 1965 where he worked for the Village for seven years. He then bought and operated King Koin Laundromat in Swan River until his retirement in 1987. Cliff is survived by his wife Betty; son Bob (Sharon); daughter Linda (Doug) Nickerson; grandchildren, Trent (Melissa) Nolen, Melanie (Mark) Nessleback, Lindsay (Ray) Smidstrup, Logan McNevin, Meagan Nolen, Geoff (Sandra) Nickerson, Trevor (Mimi) Nickerson and Kyla Nickerson; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jordan, Spencer, Jesslyn and Tyler; and daughter-in-law Cheryl Nolen. He is also survived by sisters, Thelma Hickman, Fay (Vearn) Ashton and sister-in-law Chrissy Nowlin. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Fanny Nowlin; his brothers, John and Herschel; sister Ethel Armistead; niece and nephew, Sharon and Harley Nowlin; and daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law Carol, Samantha and Dwight Jaeger. A celebration of Cliff's life was held at the Bowsman Legion Hall on Friday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathy Highmoor officiating. Interment followed at the Bowsman Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Trent Nolen, Logan McNevin, Will Griffith, Harvey Putnam, Garry Edwards and Grant Peterson. All of Cliff's friends, including the staff of Formo Motors, were to consider themselves Honorary Pallbearers. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Cliff's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Fire Fighter's Burn Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Jim Webster of Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd. 363 Kelsey Trail (Hwy 10 North) Swan River, MB. 734-5775.
