BERNICE PHYLLIS FOGEL (nee Winston) March 14, 1942 - June 4, 2006 It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bernice Phyllis Fogel on June 4, 2006. It is after a courageous battle with breast cancer that she fought with determination, courage, strength and dignity that she completed her life's journey. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Cyril; her father Benjamin Winston; and brothers Arnold and Jack Winston. She is lovingly and always will be remembered by her son Sam; daughter Jodi, son-in-law Glen Simpson and recently new grandson Troy. She will also be missed by her mother Dolly Winston; sisters Sheila (Dan) Mamott, Elaine (Mark) Yukelis; sisters-in-law Alice (Larry) Brooker, Miriam Winston; brothers-in-law Michael Fogel, Norman (Esther) Fogel; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends. Bernice was born in Winnipeg on March 14, 1942. After meeting and falling in love with her husband Cyril, they took up residency throughout the world from Calgary, Alberta to Zambia, Africa for Cyril's career with CNCP. Bernice was an exceptional cook, enjoyed to bake, sew, read and write. She loved to travel, shop and meet new people, but family was her life and passion. She also enjoyed working many years at Clifford's until it's closing in 2001. Bernice then moved on to employment at Walmart which she took great pleasure in until she could no longer work. Bernice was a beautiful woman inside and out, always with a smile on her face in spite of her constant pain that she never complained of. She was a vivacious, witty and knowledgeable lady who lived life to it's fullest and always with enthusiasm. Bernice left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her. Her last biggest joy was becoming a first time Baba, eight weeks ago, to baby Troy that she loved a lifetime in such a short time frame. A special thank you to Dr. Grenier, Dr. Dabrowska, Dr. Daeninck, Dr. Butler, Dr. Crawford, Dr. Pilkey, Dr. Zaki, Dr. Wilson, the entire St. Boniface Cancer Care Oncology Unit and the warm hearts of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care for our Mom as well as ourselves. Also a special thank you to Bernice's son-in-law's parents, Joan and Glen Sr. Simpson, for their constant love and support. Pallbearers were Dr. Gary Brooker, Dr. Brian Brooker, Sean Mamott, Ari Mamott, Peter Rokeby and Rick Penner. Honorary pallbearers were Dan Mamott, Larry Brooker, Josh Yukelis and Dave Green. Services were held June 6 at Congregation Etz Chayim. Interment at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Cemetery.
