YVONNE PATRICIA ANDERSON
Date of Passing: Jun 06, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYVONNE PATRICIA ANDERSON Peacefully on the night of Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family Yvonne Patricia Anderson beloved mother, umma and friend passed away. Yvonne grew up on Beverly Street in the west end of Winnipeg with her father Cecil, mother Margaret and two brothers, Cecil Jr. and Claude. Yvonne attended the schools of John M. King and then later the high school of general wolfe where she was nicknamed Florence Nightingale for her constant efforts to care for everyone around her never asking for anything in return, as she continued to do throughout her life. After high school Yvonne enrolled in the Western School of Mortuary Practice working towards a career she loved. Over the years she worked as a funeral director for Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Homes in Winnipeg. Many years later upon relocating to Gimli with her daughter to care for her parents she took on a job at the Lakeview resort Hotel where she spent 10 happy years amongst co-workers she could call friends. Yvonne was an active member with the hotel union where she took pride in being responsible for many union decisions. Before passing Yvonne managed to spend a few short but happy months relaxing at home with her daughter and new baby granddaughter. Yvonne enjoyed sitting down to watch a movie with her two movie buddies, cooking, reading a good book, and researching genealogy. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Emily (Bertt) who has lost not only a mother but a best friend, her granddaughter Jodie (jitterbug), her cuddle buddy Morrison (the cat) and all her friends. At Yvonne's request immediate cremation has taken place and a private family ash interment will be held at a later date. If at some point in time you are quietly sitting and you think of Yvonne and smile, or speak of her with fondness that will be the best memorial to a woman that took pride in her honesty, ability to listen and who enjoyed a good conversation amongst friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital who were so kind and thoughtful during this very difficult time. You all went so far out of your way to make things easier, it will never be forgotten. My mom wanted to express her gratitude to all the friends and former co-workers for their warm wishes and words of hope, they made her days so much brighter. We'll miss you so much dear mom and umma we'll see you in the morning. Ditto Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
