THOMAS HAROLD GILLMAN Thomas Harold Gillman, aged 61, passed away suddenly on April 19, 2006 in Laval, QC. Tom will be forever missed by his wife Heather; children, Mark and Andrea (Brian); brothers, Arthur (Louise) and Alec (Evelyn); mother-in-law Sarah Fisher; brother-in-law Wayne Fisher (Ida). He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Ida Gillman. Tom was born in Winnipeg on D-Day, June 6, 1944, the baby of the family. Tom was a loving husband and father. He was extremely proud of his children and was their greatest supporter in all their endeavors. He was passionate about his work and his hobbies of photography, flying and fixing all things broken. He was dedicated to his community working in various capacities through the years. Trips to Israel were highlights and he eventually served as president of both JNF and State of Israel Bonds locally. Tom had an enquiring mind even from a young age. He liked to know how things worked and ultimately how things failed. Tom obtained his BScEE from the University of Manitoba. He was very proud to be a P.Eng and took the role very seriously. His career spanned over 35 years and evolved from mainly electrical design work to forensic engineering, fire investigation and failure analysis. He wrote articles for professional journals, gave lectures and seminars and volunteered with the APEGM. Funeral services were held at Congregation Etz Chayim on April 24 with interment at Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Gillman, Grant Gillman, Saul London, Percy Lerner, Brian Grossman and Sherman Greenberg. Honorary pallbearers were Sheldon Gilman, Richard Gurevich and Ark Tsisserev. Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the JNF (947-0207) or a charity of your choice.
