BASILIO FALVO It is with deep regret and sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved father and grandfather Basilio Falvo on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the age of 98. Basilio Falvo, predeceased by his beloved wife, Serafina Falvo (1998) passed peacefully in his sleep at the Concordia Hospital. He is also predeceased by his brother, Joe Falvo and sisters, Gatania Masi and Caterina Gagliardi. Remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Bettina (Frank) Grande, Antonietta (Giuseppe) Torchia, Caterina (Augusto) Romeo, Anthony (Maria) Falvo, Pat (Maria) Falvo; Grandchildren, Joe Grande, Basilio (Rosa) Grande, Anna (Frank) Cianflone, Felicia (Fred) Kriegl, Tony (Liana) Romeo, Anna (Joe) Kriegl, Anthony Falvo, Sara-Marie Falvo, Christina (Paul) Carvalho, Lisa (Jason) Cabral and Melanie Falvo and nine great grandchildren. Basilio is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elena Falvo and numerous nieces and nephews. Basilio was born May 8, 1908 in Amato, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1949 where he resided in Transcona and worked for the CNR until his retirement in 1973. Basilio's vibrant spirit allowed him to remain in his home until his recent brief illness. Basilio always had a passion for life, music and gardening. The patriarch of the family, he thrived on being surrounded by his family and many friends. His eyes lit up when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren entered the room. Everyone who met him felt his love and joy. It is the love and joy that he felt from others that sustained him in such great health for all these years. His jovial spirit and sense of humor will always be remembered. Viewing will take place on Monday, June 12 at Wheeler Funeral Chapel from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Church , 505 Brewster St. with Rev. Renato Pasinato presiding. Entombment to follow at the Chapel of Internal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West.
