ANNIE PETERS (nee SMITH) (BORTHISTLE) On June 10, 2006 Annie Peters went to be with her Lord and Savior. Annie was born to Cyril and Emma Smith on May 9, 1917 in Winnipeg, MB. After graduating from Daniel Mackentire Collegiate in 1934 she was employed at the Winnipeg Grain Exchange. On March 28, 1942 Ann married Albert Strahan Borthistle and moved with him to the family's farm at Grosse Isle, MB. In 1967 Mom and Dad sold their dairy farm and moved to Swan River, MB. In 1969 she lost her beloved Albert to cancer. She opened a Christian Book Store in partnership with friends in Swan River. Mom did volunteer work; as a 4-H leader in Grosse Isle, Swan Valley Hospital Auxiliary and various activities in her church. In 1989 Mom moved from Swan River to Saskatoon and took up residence in her condominium at Circle Drive Place. On March 31, 1992 she married Isaac Peters and thus began a brand new chapter in her life. Ann was predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother as well as her first husband and infant son. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her loving husband Isaac Peters; sons, Richard Borthistle (Lenora), Selkirk, MB, Cyril Borthistle (Elaine), Winnipeg, MB; and daughters, Grace Yanchuk (John), Norquay, SK, Norine Peters (Allan), Sylvan Lake, AB and Emma Schultz (Alvin), Dalmeny, SK; 11 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. The family is so grateful for the wonderful care Mom received from the staff at Circle Drive Special Care Home. Viewing will be held at Dalmeny Funeral Chapel, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK on Tuesday June 13 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from Circle Drive Alliance Church, 3035 Preston Ave., Saskatoon, SK at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Cyril Borthistle and Pastor Gary Bellamy officiating. Interment will take place in Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, MB at a later date. Memorial donations maybe made out to Gideons International. Arrangements entrusted to DALMENY FUNERAL HOME. 306-254-2022.
