HELEN LOUISE ANDRUSIAK (nee Grocholski) Peacefully, on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Gimli Community Health Centre, Helen Andrusiak, aged 80 years of Gimli. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 62 years, Mike; children, Diane (Don) Hrehoruk, Larry (Gladys) Andrusiak, Valerie (Peter) Nosaty and Connie Andrusiak; grandchildren, Daniel (Debbie) Nosaty, Nancy (Mike) Safranuik, Michael (Nicole) Hrehoruk, Cindy Andrusiak and Sherry (Ken) Mullen; great-grandchild Chance Safranuik; sisters, Jean Dobush and Kay Chyzzy; sisters-in-law, Lois Grocholski and Mary Bliznuk. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Adele Grocholski, sisters, Mary Henderson, Nellie Pistun and brother Joseph Grocholski. She was born on October 29, 1925 in Winnipeg, MB and spent her early childhood in Sioux Lookout, ON with her parents. They later moved to Meleb, MB. She got married in 1944, where along with her husband Mike farmed in Meleb until retirement in the mid 1980s. Helen spent many years volunteering at the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Meleb and sang with the Meleb Church choir until moving to Gimli in 2001 when they sold the family farm. Here she continued gardening, which was her passion. Mom also volunteered at the Sacred Heart Church in Gimli where she formed many new friendships. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. also in the Church with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will take place in the Meleb Cemetery (No. 7 Hwy) following the lunch in the Church basement. Her pallbearers will be Daniel Nosaty, Nancy Nosaty, Michael Hrehoruk, Cindy Andrusiak, Gary Krochenski and Sherry Mullen. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
