(TILLIE) MATILDA MARIA JANE JENKEN (nee MCKINNON) Peacefully on June 13, 2006 after a lengthy illness, Tillie passed away at Maples Personal Care Home. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Ardele Karaganis, husband George, Keith Jenken, wife Sylvia and their son and daughter, Athena and Colin. Tillie also leaves to mourn her sister Maybelle McLees of Moose Jaw, SK and her brother William McKinnon, wife Bella of Longueuil, QC. Tillie was born on September 1, 1919 in Whitewood, SK. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol in 2000, her parents, four sisters and two brothers. Tillie married in Winnipeg in 1942 and was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She had the opportunity to live in a number of small Ontario communities and Winnipeg while she raised her family. She eventually settled in Winnipeg in the early 1970s where she worked for a number of years until she retired in the late seventies. Tillie enjoyed the simpler things in life including camping, gardening, cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was also known to be very creative as she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Tillie was an independent and strong woman who believed that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Maples Personal Care home for the wonderful care, respect, kindness and support that they have provided. A service to celebrate Tillie's life will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Friday, June 16 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
