Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLA MILDRED GILCHRIST December 19, 1929 - June 11, 2006 Willa passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Beacon Hill Lodge. She was predeceased by her loving husband Benjamin; her parents, David Turner and Sarah Jane Turner (nee Willott); her sister Madeleine Joy; and twin brothers, William and Wilfred. Mom will be sadly missed by her daughter Diane Marcoux, grandson Christian Marcoux (Kelly Ruddock), great-grandson Brendin Marcoux, her granddaughter Andrea Côté (Benjamin), great-grandchildren, Miranda, Maximus, Liam Côté; her son Bruce Gilchrist (Sandy), grandchildren, Tyler and Stacy; son Alan Gilchrist (Karen), grandchildren, Lee, Quinn, Kira; her sister Claudia Stadnyk (Ed), all of Winnipeg; her brother David (Bud) Turner of Macgregor, MB. Mom grew up in the St. Vital area, attending Glenwood School and Glenlawn Collegiate, and also raising her children in the area. She retired from Eaton's after 30 years as a proud Eaton Lady. After retiring Mom and Dad moved to Traverse Bay, where Mom was busy teaching art classes and painting beautiful oil paintings which were welcomed by many friends and family. Mom was also busy at The Senior Scene at Victoria Beach, where she held many different positions. When Mom's health began to fail she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. The family wishes to express heartful thanks to the staff of Beacon Hill Lodge for all their wonderful care and support of our mother. Also special thanks to nurses Beth and Stephanie. A special thank you to Merv English for all the love, caring and support you gave Mom. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Interment will follow in Victoria Beach Cemetery.
