ERNEST JOSEPH LETAIN With sadness and loving memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Ernest (Buzz) Letain, at the age of 69 years, in Winnipeg, on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, with his family at his side. Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 and one half years, Claudette; his children, Sandra (Craig) and Donald (Stephanie) of St. Albert, AB, Guy and Nicole (Kevin) of Winnipeg, MB and Joanne (Stephane) of Kingston, ON. Also cherishing his memory are his 11 angels (grandchildren), Cameron, Cole, Jesse, Jamel, Jami, Justice, Brittany, Jasmin, Karsten, Veronika and Nikolas; mother Cecile; siblings, Andre (Stephie), Joe (Florence), Patrice (Anne), Arthur (Ruth), Adele, Raymond (Cathy), Denis (Jackie) and Frederick (Vera); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and wonderful friends. Dad was predeceased by his brother Lionel; his father Albert; father-in-law Narcisse; granddaughter Payton; and his favourite mutt Odee (Dumb-Dumb). On November 4, 1936, Dad was born in St. Rose du Lac, MB and raised in Laurier, MB. He was the eldest of 10 children and was very involved in raising his siblings (this is where his love for babies / children began). After his schooling in Laurier, MB, Dad completed high school at College Juniorat in St. Boniface, MB. In 1956, Dad started working as an assistant agent with the Canadian National Railway. He retired as a rail traffic controller (known as E.J.L. on the C.N. network) in 1993 after 37 years. In their early years, Dad and Mom moved over 25 times (with children in tow) finally settling in Winnipeg in 1974. Dad had a great love of sports and always included his kids in everything he did. The biggest Habs fan this side of Quebec, Dad was involved in hockey his entire life. His other sports included golf, tennis, horseshoes, curling, running, bowling, dancing, shuffleboard and cards. Dad was happiest during his last years working on the tenth hole at the Kingswood Golf Course and teaching his grandchildren the tricks of the game. He also enjoyed meeting friends for his daily coffee and donut. A simple loving family man, Dad's greatest love was having his family together for dinner. Dad was especially gifted at giving everyone nicknames. You could count on Dad to always have a smile on his face and to have his door always open for visits. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St. with Rev. Fr. Terance McGrath presiding. Our family would like to thank Dr. Harris and staff at the Grace Hospital Cancer Care Clinic for their devoted and compassionate care. We would also like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital Hospice for their care, kindness and respectful treatment of Dad during his final days. Finally, heartfelt thanks to the many family and friends who prayed, visited and supported Dad and us throughout these trying times. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad's memory to the Grace Hospice Foundation, 260 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3R5. Husband, dad, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, dear friend, we will miss you immensely, especially your big beautiful smile. Ernest's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
