VERONICA DUPUIS Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Veronica Dupuis passed away suddenly on June 14, 2006 at Lindenwood Manor. Verne will be warmly remembered for her youthful vibrancy, joy for life and love for her family. Throughout her lifetime she brought us together filling our lives with beautiful, lasting memories. Veronica (Verne) was born into the Wagner family in 1911 as the youngest daughter of 14 children on the farm in Balgonie, SK. As a young woman, she met Ronald Joseph Dupuis in Regina, who she married and followed to Manitoba. They remained happily married for 58 years. Surrounded by family, this prairie girl-at-heart loved life in Winnipeg, a place she would remain her whole married life. Her role as wife, homemaker and mother was one she took very seriously. Friendships were extremely important and she loved to walk, dance and garden. Verne was a lifetime member of the Order of the Royal Purple No. 12 and often led the drill team. She valued the opportunity to watch grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up around her and filled with pride whenever discussing their accomplishments. Of course, there were always fond memories of time spent at Caddy Lake in the cabin Ron built where family gatherings and many card games provided countless memories. Verne was predeceased by her husband Ronald and daughter Karen, her parents and all of her siblings; and she is survived by her three children and spouses, Gordon and Donna Dupuis, Joan and Wally Bjarnason, and Michele and Robert Drew; as well as her grandchildren, Michael (Judith), Brian (Laurie), Brant (Cathy), Diane (Tom), Larry, Alanna and Tara, and her ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Lindenwood Manor for their wonderful help and support and for truly finding the definition of caring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 ; The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1; or a charity of choice. Verne's bright spirit, opinionated nature and seemingly endless strength have inspired us all and will remain in our hearts forever. We miss you, mother, grandmother and friend. May your spirit continue to dance and sweep in God's house! A celebration of Verne's life will take place on Thursday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd with Fr. Patrick A. Morand officiating.
