DAVID (DAVE) MARTENS Peacefully, on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre Dave Martens passed away at the age of 79, with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; his brothers John, Abe and Henry. His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Ron (Donna), Bill, Alex (Andrea) and Leonard of Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Jordann (Devon), Breanna, Nevin, Nolan; great-grandson Damon; sisters, Jessie, Nettie (Andy); brothers, Jake, Pete (Evelyn), Cornie (Mary), Bill (Mary) and Richard (Hilda); sisters-in-law, Kathy and Betty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dad was born in 1926 in Plum Coulee, baptized in 1955 at the Weidenfeld Chortitzer Church. Dad and Mom were married in 1957 and were blessed with four boys. He was employed with Canada Post and retired at age 63. Family was very important to Dad, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his visits with Leonard. Dad enjoyed hosting Christmas dinner every year at his house. He was deeply loved by all his children and he will be missed. The family wishes to thank all the Staff at the Riverview Health Centre and CancerCare for their kindness and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers donations in Dad's memory may be made to one of his favourite charities the Agape Table Inc.
