ERNEST SHETTLER With deep sadness we announce the passing of Ernest Shettler, beloved husband of Janet (Wilson) and father of daughter Janis Reichart and husband Byron, grandchildren Paul and David; son Tom Shettler , wife Beverly (Hare) and grandchildren Lynne, Steven; brother Allan Shettler and wife Gertie (Arnold); sister-in-law Florence (Walker); sister and brother-in-law Millie and Arnold Ellis of Canal flats; brother-in-law Bill Wilson and wife Phyllis of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest was predeceased by his mother and father Fred and Lily (Bush) Shettler and older brother Victor; mother-in-law and father-in-law Thomas and Marion (Argen) Wilson. Ernie's great loves were his family, playing golf, traveling and playing cards with his friends at East St. Paul Senoir Centre. He was also very proud of his 35 years with the Winnipeg Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Captain and Acting District Chief. He was a long time member of Elmherst Golf and Country Club. His love of travel with Janet began with their 25 anniversary. They journeyed to many destinations with the last 16 years being in Mesa, Arizona. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Winnipeg Fire Department Chaplain Mark Young will be presiding and the department Honor Guard in attendance. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
