ROSE ANNE JACOBSON (nee HEMMERLING) Born on January 29, 1919 to Christian and Mary Hemmerling in Camp Morton, MB, died in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 87 years. Mom was predeceased in death by our dad Oli Clifford Jacobson. Mom leaves to mourn and remember, her children, Guy Alan (Nicole), Donna (Richard), Kim (Sharon), Glenn (Linda), and Denise (Don); grandchildren, Andrew, Jennifer, Tyler, Garnet, Graham, Joleen, Christopher, Meaghan, Tanner, Jordan and Reed; and her great-grandchildren, Graham, Grant, Lane, Liam, Cameron and Lauren. Mom was raised on the prairies of Manitoba and Saskatchewan where her father farmed near Plumus, Wilkie and Trainor Saskatchewan. Later the Hemmerlings farmed near Arborg, MB where Mom met and married Oli Jacobson on November 4, 1945. Mom and Dad farmed near Arborg and later moved to Winnipeg in 1956. In 1963 the family moved to a small mine in northwestern Ontario and to Saskatchewan in 1966 where they lived in Regina for 34 years and more recently took residence in Saskatoon at Villas Royale. Mom was a self-taught cook, baker and seamstress, knitter and an avid crocheter. Her children and grandchildren are all recipients of her handiwork in the form of many lovely afghans that she made over the years and as wedding gifts. Mom's house was her castle and all who came into it were welcomed with open arms, a cup of coffee and something freshly baked. In recent years she missed the ability to do all these things that had brought her joy and we missed the cinnamon buns, the apple bread and Danish pastry. Mom and Dad enjoyed camping and travelling and visiting with relatives. In their retirement, they would spend time on the West Coast and in Arizona camping and visiting with cousins. Mom will be remembered as a woman who kept her own counsel and let the past be in the past. Her wishes are to be cremated and the ashes to be interred at the family cemetery at Haga, in Arborg, MB alongside those of our dad. A memorial service and a celebration of life will be held in the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church (301 River Rd., Arborg, MB) on Friday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements in Saskatoon were entrusted to HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME, Lynn Constantinoff (477-4400).
