WILLIAM (NICK) SHOTT December 11, 1932 - June 20, 2006 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of William (Nick) Shott on June 20, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre. Nick was born in Medika, MB to Mike and Annie Shott and moved to Winnipeg as a teenager, living first in Transcona and later in downtown Winnipeg. He married Janice Dulcie Spence March 9, 1957. Nick and Janice lived in Winnipeg until they built their home on McPhillips Road in the St. Andrews / Lockport area in 1975. Nick enjoyed the yard, the garden and his workshop in the garage. After retirement Nick and Janice moved to Fred Douglas Place in Winnipeg. As a young man, Nick was an avid fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler, race car driver and mechanic. Nick could fix, repair and make just about anything in metal or wood and he passed his skills on to his sons. All the family had to do was ask. Sometimes it took a little longer to complete the request than anticipated, it had to be mulled around in his head to determine the best way, but when it was done, it was a professional job. Nick worked in the garment industry for many years, and in 1968 joined the CPR as a boilermaker-mechanic, retiring in the fall of 1997. Nick and Janice were avid campers. Starting with going coast to coast in Canada and the United States with the family. Later, giving up the open road for the friendly skies , they travelled to Hawaii, Australia twice, Hong Kong, New Zealand, San Francisco, New York, Cuba, Mexico and the United States. The most enjoyable trips were the family trips to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in 1992 and Honolulu, Hawaii in 2002. Nick leaves to mourn his passing his wife Janice of 49 years, his children, Gerry (Sandra), David, Sandra Iwankow (Bob) and Timothy. Four grandchildren: Amanda Shott, Rod Iwankow, Richelle Iwankow and Kaley Young and one great grandchild, Emily. He also leaves his brother and sisters: Mike (Mary) Shott, Olga (Len) Klause, and Pearl Eyemoto; nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his father in June 22, 1993 and his mother on May 14, 2006. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with an interment and reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff on D6 at the Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and compassionate care for Dad. If friends wish, a donation may be made to the CancerCare Leukemia Research Fund, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 in Nick's memory. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
