EDITH IRENE RENNIE Peacefully on June 19, 2006, in her 98th year, a very Christian lady passed on. Mother will be deeply missed by her three sons, Gerald (Mae), Jack (Marge) and Ron (Jean); her six grandchildren, Russell (Shelly), Jeanne Lodge (Darren), Bryan (fiancee Rita) and Lisa, Robert (Denise) and Sharon Simon (Ed); her eight great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alexander Rennie, Eric and Elizabeth Lodge, Nathan, Colin, Teagan and Gavin Simon. She was predeceased by her husband Warren, her parents and her two brothers Lloyd and Cecil. She is survived by her sister Nora Onslow and sisters-in-law Florence Miller and Marion Willey, and nieces and nephews. Mom had a passion for education and the love of children. After attending normal school she started teaching in one-room rural schools. After her own family were old enough to attend school, she returned to teaching. She taught grade one in Pierson Elementary School for many years, giving many young people the foundation and knowledge to meet the challenges of life. She was very pleased and proud when any member of her family became involved in education as their chosen profession. Also she encouraged all her grandchildren to obtain advanced education. In her later years she was never happier than when she was amongst her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was loved by all. Mother was a long time supporter of the Pierson United Church and was a life member of Rebekah Lodge. She kept in touch with a wide circle of friends and all exclaimed about her beautiful handwriting in the cards and letter they received, until her latest years. Many thanks to the staff at Oakview Place who made her final years comfortable. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday June 24th at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Thomson Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
