HAROLD JOSEPH BENDER Mr. Harold Bender, aged 63 years, of Beausejour, MB, dearly beloved husband of Carol, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB. He is survived by his wife Carol of 40 years; sons Jeff (Janice) and Brian; grandson Scott; brother Lionel and sisters Donna and Shirley. Harold was a role model of family, hospitality and community. His focus was always on his kids. He knew his sons could do anything they set out to and they proved him right. Harold was always right. His dedicated commitment to community was evident through the various service organizations he worked diligently for. Wherever support and help was needed, Harold was there. He just did what needed to be done. That ethic led to his passionate involvement in coaching junior curling for over 25 years. Harold retired in 1998 with a vow to live life to the fullest and it was full: painting, wood working, carving, gardening, building, constructing, creating, innovating, travelling with Carol, laughing with Carol, dreaming with Carol and special daily garden walk abouts with Carol. Examples of Harold's creativity and energy are present in the Beausejour Daylily Gardens. He charted, hauled, dug and planted (even when Carol didn't want him to) - just helping to build the dream. Harold had the gift of making people, and especially his sons, feel they could do the impossible. Indeed what we dream together can become a reality. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 530 Atlantic Ave., Beausejour, MB with Rev. Fr. David Brabant presiding. Interment will follow later in the day at St. Mary Parish Cemetery.
