JAMES SYDNEY (SYD) PEEBLES On June 20, 2006 at the Grace General Hospital, Syd Peebles, passed away after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis complicated by cancer at the age of 63 years. He never lost his dignity or sense of humour and slipped away into the arms of Jesus with his family by his side. Syd was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 13, 1943 and immigrated to Canada in April of 1968. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 42 years, but, sweetheart of 47 years, Margaret; son Scott; daughter Sandra (Sam); grandson Connor; his brothers Archie (Pat) and Billy (Chris) Syd was a member of St. John's Lodge #4 AF AM, GRM. He was a skilled carpenter by trade who worked at Eaton's until 1994 and continued on with the Senior's Job Bureau. Syd loved the game of soccer with a special place in his heart for the Glasgow Rangers F.C. He enjoyed travelling with his wife to any place the sun was shining and his visits back to Bonnie Scotland. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. D. Breckman of the Assiniboine Clinic and Dr. C. Cymbalisty of the Grace Hospital for their care and concern. Syd had an infectious sense of humour and integrity that endeared him to his family and many friends. His word was his bond and he didn't suffer fools lightly. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew him. A Celebration of Syd's life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Masonic Memorial Temple, 420 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg. If he were with us now, he would say to all of you Cheerio for now. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Syd's name may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Canada. neil bardal inc. 949-2200
